Come Back Home

A solo performance by Fadi Murad

Come Back Home key art: against a sunlit concrete wall, Fadi Murad holds a black umbrella over a second, drenched Fadi Murad.

About the show

Come Back Home explores ongoing grief and how the past continues to inhabit the present. It moves through self-criticism, fear and the unknown, through absurdity and the logic of the subconscious.

Through text, video and sound, Palestinian artist Fadi Murad questions how loss shapes ambition, identity and the idea of return through personal experience and memory. The performance shifts between humour and catharsis, exposing doubt, ego, tenderness and contradiction, while asking what it means to carry home within you.

Where it began

Fadi Murad made Come Back Home as his graduation piece at the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem, where it was performed in July 2023.

Fadi’s mother died in a car accident in 2009, when he was nine. The show draws on that loss and on life in Jerusalem. Since 2023 it has been performed in Edinburgh, at Théâtre L’Aire Libre in France during a Sawa Sawa residency, and for the whole of the 2026 Fringe at Summerhall.
